Most couples, to celebrate their anniversary, do things such as go on romantic getaways, eat dinner by candlelight, and exchange expensive gifts. And what do Greg and I do to celebrate our anniversary? We go to stay on an organic farm where we feed chickens, brush ponies, and gawk at the alpacas. It was AWESOME.
We stayed at Once in a Blue Moon Farm on Orcas Island. The owner Shana is incredibly warm and welcoming, and our room (the ‘carriage loft’) was super duper comfy and had a great views over the farm. The place feels so much homier than a typical B&B. I of course was super enthused about doing farmy activities and Shana was very accomodating. I fed the chickens and the alpacas, collected eggs, groomed the pony and one of the horses, and went for a ride in their arena. At the end of the weekend I did NOT want to leave.
Check out my inner farm girl bursting out as I hold this cute little hen:

Here is a photo of Greg surrounded by hungry Camelids.
If you live in the city but have farm life fantasies, you MUST go here.

Looks awesome!! Adding it to the list of things to do with the family when all kids are out of diapers.
I canNOT believe you did not tell me about this place.
Those are too fricking cute!
Hi there! by chance, I found your “old” Blog with your travel-pictues and great text. Just wanted to let you know: you’ve made wonderful photos. They remind me on our trip around the world. (especially the one from Hongkong, we also stayed in the Mirador Manison… strange but cool place
